About GELCLAIR®
GELCLAIR®
has a
mechanical action
indicated for the
management of pain and
relief of pain by
adhering to the mucosal
surface of the mouth,
soothing oral lesions of
various etiologies,
including oral mucositis/stomatitis.
It is a concentrated
oral gel available in
single use packets of 15
ml each.
GELCLAIR®
bioadherent oral
gel helps patients who
are undergoing radiation
or chemotherapy (or a
combination of the two)
by relieving the pain of
oral mucositis. GELCLAIR®
is composed
of three key ingredients
that combine to provide
pain relief to the
mucosal surface of the
mouth:

Polyvinylpyrrolidone
(PVP) protects
the mucosa

Hyaluronic acid
(sodium hyaluronate)
hydrates and
soothes
the mucosa

Glycyrrhetinic acid
(licorice root
extract) is a mild

GELCLAIR®
coats the exposed
nerve endings of the
mucosa throughout
the phases of oral
mucositis
GELCLAIR® provides rapid and durable pain
relief. Study results show that GELCLAIR®
significantly reduces oral mucositis pain
for 5 to 7 hours after administration.11
Short-Term results
In an open label study 30 patients
experienced a 92% reduction in mean overall
oral pain associated with lesions of the
mouth and oropharyx 5 to 7 hours after
treatment (p<0.005)11,12

Open-label
study of 30 patients with painful lesions of
the mouth and oropharynx associated with
chemotherapy, radiation, mucositis, HIV
disease, severe diffuse aphthous ulcers, or
oral surgery. Pain was scored on a
Visual Numerical Scale ranging from 0 (no
pain) to 10 (worst pain), with scores
recorded at baseline and at 5 to 7 hours
after treatment. GELCLAIR®
was
administered TID.11

the ability to eat and
drink more normally.11,12
Medium-term results
in the same open label study 87% of patients
reported reduced pain associated with
swallowing foods, liquids, and saliva after
7 days of use (p<0.005)11,12
