  Designed for managing oral mucositis

GELCLAIR®  works by forming a barrier that protects the nerve endings that cause pain. In clinical studies, GELCLAIR® effectively treated pain and provided relief that helped patients eat and drink more easily. You can eat, drink and take medications while using GELCLAIR®.GELCLAIR® was cleared by the FDA in 2001 and is specifically designed and approved for management and relief of pain in oral mucositis. It contains key ingredients that protect, hydrate and soothe the mouth and has a mild flavor.

GELCLAIR® is designed to be non-numbing, non-stinging and non-drying.10,11

GELCLAIR® has been shown to reduce the pain of oral mucositis, allowing more normal eating and drinking.

Short-term results

In an open-label study* 30 patients experienced a 92% reduction in mean overall oral pain associated with lesions of the mouth and oropharynx 5 to 7 hours after
treatment.11,12

Medium-term results

In the same open-label study* 87% of patients reported reduced pain associated with swallowing foods, liquids, and saliva after 7 days of use.11,12

Safety profile after several years of use

At the time of writing this information, no side effects have been reported in clinical trials with the use of GELCLAIR®. Postmarketing reports have included infrequent complaints of burning sensation in the mouth.

* Open-label  study of 30 patients with painful lesions of the mouth and oropharynx associated with chemotherapy, radiation, mucositis, HIV disease, severe diffuse apthous ulcers, or oral surgery. Pain was scored on a Visual Numerical Scale ranging from 0 (no pain) to 10 (worst pain), with scores recorded at baseline and at 5 to 7 hours after treatment. Gelclair was administered three times a day.11
